The Vault
No more than a hideaway amidst the gothic grandeur of the StarHall, this cozy lounge is a place of laughter if not greatness, warmth if not splendour. The close stone walls are insulated with tapestries of all shapes and sizes, most a little worn, several faded and a good many depicting scenes from childhood stories. The mismatched chairs and sofas are in a similar state, rescued from cellars and rubbish-heaps but perhaps more softer and more comfortable for that, scattered in a rouch circle on a hardwood floor. A low round table in the centre of the room holds cards, discarded hides, mugs, and a pot that holds klah as long as someone remembers to fill it. The one window at the back wall lets light and air into the warm, cozy room.
Scattered troughout the rooms are numerous glowbaskets. Thin hides, that would be transparant if they weren't coloured in light shades of red green and blue cast a colourfull and happy athmostphere troughout the room. Small bells and sticks, hung near the window, create soft, eerie yet comfortablly soft sounds,
On the perch are Pingouin, Teremi, Kataxia, Zaflin, Scorpy, Rygel, Cami, Lil'Topaz, Espero, and Tas.
You see Sweet Root plant, Kaelli, Tomato plant, Adoran's Stick, Strawberry bush, and Notebook here.
Laurel is here.

Neliar walks in from the dorms, his arms full of hides, he's been busy. "Hi Laurel." he calls seconds before he drops a hide on the floor.

Laurel looks up as Neliar dumps his hides on the floor. She breaks into a smile and calls back, "Hi, Neliar." She curls her legs beneath her as she sits upright.

As Neliar bends over to retires the fallen hide the rest of the hides slide out of his arms and lands on the floor. Blushing bright red at his clumsiness he picks them up. Sighing he places them down on the table and takes a seat. "I haven't seen you for ages, what have you been up to?"

Laurel smiles easily, not caring at all that he's dropped his hides. Happens to all of us. At least all of her things aren't tumbling out of her bag at the moment. "I know! Haven't been up to much, actually. Nothing exciting," she grins. "How about you?"

Neliar smiles and points to his new knot. "I made Snr. last sevenday." he still can't believe he did it, now all the really hardwork begins. "How are your classes going." remembering they started around the same time.

Laurel glances at the knot and down at her own. "Wow, great for you! Really," she says honestly, giving a bright smile. "I stil have a little bit to go before Senior. But it shouldn't be too long I think. Classes are fine. I guess. Nothing too bad."

Neliar clears his throat he has something to say to her, he promised a friend he would. "ER, have you seen Iyan around much." well it's a place to start isn't it?

Laurel tilts her head, looking over at him. "Iyan? Not at all! Haven't seen him since the first day, actually." Though she heard about what he said afterwards.

Neliar nods and smiles again. "Well you made a real impression on him, and I think he /really/ likes you. He's quite a nice guy really." There he's done what was asked of him, if Laurel likes Iyan fine if not...well he tried.

Laurel starts to laugh, but stops as she realizes he's being serious. "Neliar, I... I don't even know him! I met him once, and then heard everything later." She thinks for a minute. "You tell him I'll be his friend.

Neliar smiles. "I kinda promised him I'd say something to you. You've made a real impression on him you know." He thinks she's too good for him, but well what can he do, he promised.

Laurel nods slowly. "I know." She's not sure she can say the same, though. "Still, I'd like to get to know him more. Maybe I missed something," she says with a smile, leaning over to put a hide she was working on in her bag.

Neliar smiles slowly at her. "Has any one said anything to you about him?2 he knows how much the women gossip and he's been a topic of conversation alot recently.

Laurel rolls her eyes a bit and smiles. "Are you kidding me? I've heard all about him already." She shakes her head, not liking that in the least bit. But it can be useful at times.

Neliar grins at her he can imagine what she's heard but he'd like to know for himself, he'd never treat women the way Iyan does. "What have you heard about him, I promise I won't tell him." these days there's more and more he's not telling Iyan, he just doesn't know if he can trust the guy that much any more.

Laurel returns the grin and nods. She gets the feeling the two guys are very different. "Only that he came here saying how much I liked him, and then immediately found someone else." She stops a moment, trying to form the thoughts. "Ah... Pretty much that he's found a few girls. I don't know how to say what I'm thinking. You get the idea though?" She smiles. "I doubt you would tell him."

Neliar nods back at her. He just can't understand why Iyan does that, it's like he can't be happy with just one girl. "I suppose you heard about me and Nel?" sighing slightly as he mentions her name.

Laurel smiles softly, giving the slightest of nods. She hesitates a moment and decides to say, "Yes, but I heard it from her." So she heard no rumors, only what Shanel had to say.

Neliar sighs again. "Did she tell you about what I said." he beginning to wonder if all the females here know about it, shards he feels so stupid.

Laurel smiles a bit. She seriously doubts everyone knows. Shanel wouldn't do that. "I only know parts of it. I didn't ask much," she says with a shrug. He shouldn't worry.

Neliar smiles, slight relived to know only some of the hall is talking about him not everyone. "What do you think I should do Laurel, walk away or just wait and see if anything happens?" he's so unsure of what Nel wants, he really doesn't know which way to turn.

Laurel shakes her head, looking at him with round eyes. "Neliar, I can't tell you what to do. It would be a shame to just walk away, but I don't know where waiting will get you. I strongly believe to stay friends with her no matter what." She offers.

Neliar shakes his head, he doesn't know if he can /just/ be friends with her. He smiles thinking how nice Laurel is and how things might have been different if he'd spent more time with her instead of Nel. "I just don't know....." Shards he half wishes he never met her.

Laurel thinks Nel is important to him, not knowing her wouldn't be a good choice in her opinion. "I wouldn't know what to do either. What are you thinking right now?" She asks in a quiet voice.

Neliar looks at Laurel, his cheeks burning slightly red at having to admit his feelings. "How much I miss her." not that it's going to get him very far unless Nel is missing him to.

Laurel looks down at her hands. "Well," she says slowly, "That I can't help you with." She wonders if Shanel misses him...

Neliar shrugs there's not a lot he can do really. "What about you, how's your love life doing." he knows there's no point in discussing Nel further, he'll just have to accept what ever she decided and that's that.

Laurel laughs, shaking her head. "What love life?" She says honestly. "I haven't met anybody here besides you and Iyan. And I only met him once. Besides that, erm, a pair of twins that are 12." She grins. Caelum and his brother. "I've been a quiet little girl."

Neliar ottos, "not the terrible twins?" Cael is a little pest, but he's quite nice when you get to know him, he's not seen that much as Terran apart from him almost flattening him when he runs about the place. "There's not that many lads around is there?" he's noticed this and quite misses having lads around.

Laurel shakes her head. "There aren't many at all, or they're older or younger. And Caelum and Terran can actually be ok. Once you calm Cael down," she says with a smile.

Neliar nods and agrees with her, "yep, I thought he was a right little pain until I got to know him." and he still keeps a close eye on his belongings. He suddenly remembers another bit of news. "Have you heard Mayala's dog is going to have pups?"

Laurel's eyes widen and she starts to smile. "Really? No, I didn't hear that! That's great. How's Adoran?" Yes, she remembers that dog of his.

Neliar smirks slightly at the mention of his dogs name. "He's the father. He got away from Seilyn and made his way back here." At least his mutt has a love life. "So in a few sevendays they'll be a few pups running around here and if there's more than two me and Mayala will have to find them homes."

Laurel grins. "I was wondering about that. Well, good for you and him I suppose." She looks around the room. "I wonder what it would be like to have a puppy in a dorm. Wild." She shakes her head.

Neliar smiles, "I don't suppose you'd like one, would you?" he has a feeling him and Mayala might have trouble finding homes for any extra pups. "They're real fun to have around and both Adoran and Jen aren't big dogs so they'll only be little." He hopes he'll convince her.

Laurel starts to laugh. "I love dogs. But I don't know about a puppy in a dorm. I mean, that's crazy. Even if it's a little dog." She grins at Neliar. He didn't have to convince her.

Neliar laughs with her. "They're no problem at all, Adoran stays in the dorm with me sometimes and he behaves himself. Jen is well behaved as well, you'll just have to watch your hides for a few weeks while they're pups cause they'll eat anything in sight." not that it's too much to cope with and you have all the playful fun with them.

Laurel considers it. It's not as if she has anything else to deal with right now. "I'll keep it in mind then, Neliar," she says with a smile. "I don't think I've met Jen."

Neliar grins, "you probably haven't noticed her, she's always around but she's so well behaved. Not like Adoran who tends to climb on chairs if you let him. "You'll love one and you know it, you just wait until you see them." Puppies are the sweetest little things.

Laurel laughs. "You almost know me too well," she muses. "I would love one. I fall for anything that's little and adorable and furry," she says with a grin. She always loved the dogs others had.

Neliar smiles, he knows she'll love having one and that's one less problem for him to worry about. "I'm not sure how many she'll have so you might not be able to have one this litter, but they'll be others times if you want one, I'll give you first choice."

Laurel grins, fighting the urge to jump up and hug someone. He really has no idea how much she appreciates the fact he would get her a puppy. "You don't think there are any restrictions, right?"

Neliar smiles, he'll have to talk to Mayala but he's sure she'll let him have one of the puppies, after all if it wasn't for Adoran they wouldn't be any. "I'm sure you'll get one." he knows she'll look after it well. "I can't guarantee if it'll be a boy or a girl though."

Laurel shrugs. "I don't care. Just the idea that I could have on makes it a better day." She grins over at him. "That Adoran."

Neliar grins, he was rather cross with his mutt when he found out but he's rather excited about the whole thing now. "I know, what a bad dog." but you can tell he doesn't mean it.

Laurel laughs. "Bad. Making other people take puppies," she teases, shaking her head. "Where is he right now?

Neliar shrugs, come to think of it he's not seen Adoran since he let Seilyn take him out. "I'm not sure, Seily was taking him out but she's not brought him back yet." still it hasn't been that long yet.

Laurel laughs. "Oh well. As long as she has him then." She leans back against the couch.

Neliar chuckles, "She'd love another pet, but I think she's got enough now, not that it's up to him." He stretches out his long legs and looks around for signs of a pitcher of juice.

Laurel acts surprised. "Take your dog? Imagine!" She follows his gaze around the room before stretching out a bit on the couch.

Spotting the pitcher on the other side of the room, he gets up and retrieves the pitcher and a couple of glasses encase Laurel would like some. Walking back he places his load down on the table next to his forgotten hides. "Would you like a glass?" pouring out one.

Laurel reaches over and moves his hides in case he forgot they were there. That could be bad. "Sure, thanks Neliar," she replies with a smile, sitting up.

Neliar smiles at her and hands her the glass he just filled, before pouring out a glass for him. Then he sits back down, "how come you don't have a pet?" he would have thought someone like her would have at least one.

Laurel takes the glass with a grin. "Thanks, Neliar. I don't have one because I never knew where to get one. I also didn't know how I could have dealt with one." She'd be fine with one now. She can't quite understand why she doesn't have one...

Neliar laughs, "it's not really hard to look after dogs, especially when there's lots of people willing to help walk them." They keep you company wehn you'tr feeling down as well.

That's what she had in mind. Dogs are good companions. "Plus I can just ask you if I ever need help."
I don't understand that.

Neliar smiles. "Yep I'll always be here to help you if you're not sure. If I'm not they Mayala will probably be. Do you know Mayala?" he not sure if she does or not.

Laurel nods with a smile. "Yah, I know her. She's nice. I see her around a bit."

Neliar grins, he's spent quite a lot of time with Mayala and has come to like her and her dog. "Well it's her dog Jen that's going to have the puppies so she'll probably know a bit more about how to look after them than me."

Laurel smiles. "Yes I suppose so." She takes a sip of the drink and says randomly, "You know, it really has been a long time since we've talked."

Neliar looks rather startled as he realises the time, have they really been sat here talking for so long it just seems like a few minutes have passed. He's really enjoyed himself talking to Laurel, he'd forgotten just howe nice she really is. "I know and so much has happened since we first came here."

Laurel always amazes herself how she can sit for so long just talking. She never used to do that. "Gosh, I know! It seems like not so long ago I was helping you find the dorm and now here we are." She smiles. It's nice doing that, keeping in touch with people.

Neliar grins back at her remembering that day. "I know, I was a little lost probbie and you showed where to go." It seems like a life time ago.

Laurel laughs, looking over at him. "And here you are, a Snr. Time goes by quickly," she says shaking her head.

Neliar smiles. "I'd love to chat but I really have to get going now." He gets up and picks his hides up and leaves.
